Audio failures every time I restart PC – Windows 10 – Microsoft Community

I have a Dell machine that was reimaged to Windows 10 Enterprise from Windows 7 Enterprise clean install. Since then the user stated that the sound issue has been occurring. The service itself shows an Automatic startup. The other services listed in the thread are also showing Automatic and they are running, just not the Windows Audio service.

I have uninstalled the device and drivers and reinstalled the latest driver per Dell. It seemed to have worked well as I rebooted and checked the services, but then I restarted one more time and then after a while the user stated the sound was disabled again.

I am not sure where to look to see what is causing the Windows Audio sound not to run. The user has no administrator privileges so he can’t run the troubleshooter.

The newest driver is not always the best. You might try the driver from the dell deployment cab. Or, if the deployment driver is now the same as the latest, go to the dell support site and try an older version. EDIT: I just recalled someone with a similar problem recently. I found the topic. Their fix ended up being upgrading to Thank you for your response! So you can’t manually start the Windows Audio service, either? Does the audio hardware show up properly in Device Manager?

Now I think of it, I only press Restart the Service. I haven’t had selected the Start the Service. I will try that. I checked Startup and Services in msconfig and I didn’t see anything that shows it would be disabled. Considering it’s only happening to this particular machine, I wonder if it’s a hardware issue where it’s not starting up quickly. We are also having this same issue with our Dell Computers. Any solution yet??? I have found that when I take it off the Domain the Audio works. As soon as I put it back on the Domain the Audio stops working.

I have researched this for awhile now. I have tried the roller back with the audio driver or download new drivers.

We have the Windows build on these computers. We have about 30 machines or more with this problem. I am seeing this same thing on a number of Dell systems over the past week or two.

I have done everything short of reinstalling the OS and I can’t get anywhere with it. The only thing that seems to work is running the troubleshooter, or manually starting the service every time a system is booted. I now have a number of Dell Lat and systems that are doing the same thing with the WLAN service in addition to Audio after updating windows. DudeCalledBen33 Does those machines have Realtek sound cards? I have this issue occurred on an AIO now.. One thing we did was removed the Realtek Audio software and the devices with the drivers and it seemed to have worked, even the updates but after a day or more it reverted back to the same issue.

Couriant, I am seeing this exclusively on Dell systems running Realtek sound cards. I have reinstalled, rolled back, and tried manufacturers drivers that are more up to date than what Dell are recommending for the systems and, much like you have seen, it seems to work as soon as they are installed but then the machine reverts to no audio in short order.

Not sure who to tag to flag someone at dell.. Actually I’m a little disappointed with Dell recently. Change Base to Decimal and change the value from to and hit OK. I did have to create this entry on a few systems, though most of them had it already, and it worked the same in all cases so far.

I did the change and rebooted the machine. I checked the service via remote MMC connection and showed the Windows Audio service was running so it looks like that was the fix.

The question is, why is there a problem? To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. Get answers from your peers along with millions of IT pros who visit Spiceworks.
