Additionally, when I’m full screen in video games and press alt and then later press tab not at the same time it will take me out of the game and to another window and frequently open up menu buttons at the same time. The only way I can get the behavior to stop is to click on other windows with the mouse, wait, or reboot my machine.
It’s driving me crazy. I’ve search through the forums, I done a general google search, and I’ve I looked through all the possible places I could think for a customization option that may have gotten turned on or off, but I am unable to find anything that works. Does the other keyboard shortcut work properly without any issues?

First check whether the FN key in laptop is enabled. If so, then try to toggle it to OFF and check. If the issue persists, try to uninstall and reinstall the Keyboard drivers.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. Double-click Keyboard , right-click the keyboard that you use, and then click Uninstall.
Note: If you see an option to delete the driver software, make sure to check mark on the option Delete the driver software for the device.
You may also refer to the laptop manufacturer website to install the latest version of Keyboard drivers. If the issue occur on a new User account and you can still use the same when using a different keyboard, the issue seems to be related to Asus keyboard itself.

In reply to A. User’s post on August 17, I did an auto update on several software programs and drivers several weeks ago. Unfortunately, I didn’t take note what I updated, thus, unable to undo them. I’ve also tried restoring system back to previous state and that has not fixed the problem. I tried the above steps. The problem is occurring in safe mode as well as normal mode and when I’ve done a clean boot. Video driver is current and was downloaded directly from the manufacturer.
